OUTmed along with the WashU Spectrum Office returned as an Equality sponsor of St. Louis PrideFest 2024 held June 29-30 in downtown St. Louis.
The theme for 2024 Pride St. Louis was “Unleash Your Pride”. OUTmed coordinated opportunities for WashU Med faculty, trainees, residents, students, staff, and allies to participate throughout the weekend. Volunteers helped to staff a booth offering resources available at Washington University School of Medicine for PrideFest attendees.
In addition, OUTmed members taught Pride participants about using Narcan to prevent opiate overdoses. They provided information on cancer disparities in the LGBTQIA+ community, and information for the Transgender Care Center. On Sunday, over 150 WashU Med and Danforth attendees, their families, and friends marched in the Grand Parade, wearing coordinating t-shirts provided by OUTmed.
