The “Black Men in White Coats” documentary dissects the systemic barriers preventing black men from becoming medical doctors and the consequences on society at large.

Fewer black men applied to medical school in 2014 than in 1978. Only two percent of American doctors are black men, and black men have the lowest life expectancy in the United States. The Black Men in White Coats initiative formed to increase the number of black men in the field of medicine through exposure, inspiration and mentoring.
