Dr. Dominique Cosco, Director Internal Medicine Residency Program, and Dr. Angela Brown ,Vice Chair for Health Equity in the Department of Medicine, are excited to announce a new member of the IM Residency Program’s leadership team.
Cassandra Fritz, MD has been appointed as the Director for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Internal Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Fritz grew up in Carlinville, Illinois and completed her undergraduate degree in Molecular & Cellular Biology at The University of Kansas. She completed medical school at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. While at the Pritzker School of Medicine, Dr. Fritz completed a DEI internship during which she engaged in curricular development and evaluation of summer research pipeline programs for premedical students, curricular development of structural competency and advocacy for medical students. Additionally, Dr. Fritz performed research on the importance of language concordant care and the rise in racial and ethnic health disparities related to colorectal cancer health outcomes. After completing an Internal Medicine Residency and Chief Residency at Washington University/Barnes Jewish Hospital, she started her Gastroenterology Fellowship as a T32 Research Scholar at WashU.
Dr. Fritz’s expertise, track record, and passion for addressing diversity, health equity and creating an inclusive climate for all learners make her a clear and exciting choice as the inaugural WashU IM Residency Director of DEI.
